Starving puppy found in worst state possible

A BIRMINGHAM woman who starved a puppy for three months has been convicted.

Lauren Hopkins, 39, failed to feed her five-month-old female Staffie called Stella who she kept in a rubbish-strewn flat, which she was renting in London at the time.

Hopkins, of Winterton Road, Kingstanding, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Animal Welfare Act and was sentenced to an eight-week custodial sentence suspended for 18 months. She was also given a 10-year ban from keeping any animal, a Mental Health Treatment Requirement and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
