'Patriotic' £240m to revive neglected areas
Birmingham Mail
|September 27, 2025
NEGLECTED Birmingham neighbourhoods are to get £20 million each to “revive their high streets, parks and public spaces” and in a massive coup for the city.
The city is the biggest recipient in the country of the Government's new Pride In Place funding. The areas are: Hawkesley in Kings Norton; Druids Heath; Kingstanding South East; Woodgate in Bartley Green; Fox Hollies in Acocks Green; Glebe Farm in Tile Cross; Sparkbrook North and Balsall Heath East ward; and Nechells.
They will each get £2 million a year for the next decade. Local communities will determine how the cash is spent.
Neighbourhoods in Sandwell (Friar Park), Wolverhampton (Low Hill), Walsall (Blakenall South) and Solihull (Chelmsley Wood East) have also been selected.
