50 new jobs at JLR as electric plans revealed

JAGUAR Land Rover has revealed how it plans to adapt its business to 'boost resilience' as it shifts to electric vehicles.

The car manufacturer - which has huge plants in Castle Bromwich and Solihull - has hired 50 specialists to “maximise the resilience” of its electric vehicle supply chains and to “uphold ethical standards”.

It said the new roles were introduced “amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty” and “increasing extreme weather events”.

The car firm is aiming to deliver its next generation of pure electric models, across all brands, by 2030.

The new roles were created to provide the business with additional, detailed and accurate visibility of parts and materials in its supply chain.

That includes raw material sources so JLR can foresee and help navigate any threats to supply - with a view to ensuring production is maintained.
