Jarman floored by gold
GYMNASTICS JAKE Jarman struck gold in the men’s floor final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta. Luke Whitehouse claimed silver for a British one-two ahead of Carlos Yulo, from the Philippines. Defending champion Artem Dolgopyat could not compete due to Indonesia's decision not to grant visas to the Israeli team. Jarman, 23, won the world vault title in Antwerp in 2023, but failed to reach the final of his favoured discipline earlier this week. However, he bounced back in style by delivering a floor score of 14.866. Jarman said: “That was incredible, it felt like an Olympic final. Seeing pretty much everyone hit their routines, I just thought, ‘I've got to do something incredible here’.
