CHANEL'S RACING CHANCE

Still an amateur event and contested since 1829, The Boat Race, which takes place each spring on the River Thames between the dark and light blues of Oxford and Cambridge universities respectively, is Britain's oldest major sporting occasion.

On 13 April, in separate races for women and men Boat Race, rowers compete on a 4.25-mile (6.84km) course between Putney and Mortlake, with more than 250,000 spectators lining the riverbank and millions more watching on BBC TV.
