Inspired by John Galsworthy's The Forsyte Saga novels, which were previously adapted for TV in 1967 and 2002, the six-parter, penned by Poldark's Debbie Horsfield, centres on the titular wealthy clan, who own a London stockbroking firm.

The series begins in 1877 when caring Jolyon 'Jo' Forsyte (Danny Griffin) - the son of company chairman Jolyon Snr (Stephen Moyer) - marries savvy widow Frances (Tuppence Middleton).
