You see, I've had a first-gen KTM 390 Adventure since February 2020; five years ago, it ended my aversion to other forms of 390-derived discomfort that had persisted since 2012. The Duke was too small and the RC, well, never mind. Back then, the plan was to roam the country with a camera and books in tow, simply going wherever the road took us. Road, mind you; I'm not one for the fleeting Insta-pandering moments on dirt.

It's difficult to get away from motorcycles. They glow brightly on the screens that irradiate one's life with their pixel-fuelled glares. They form soft-board squadrons, always ready to escape into office-space daydreams. At home, they tempt you from dust jackets and posters, convincing you that they are indeed the most worthwhile way to spend time. When you're not actually on a motorcycle, of course.
