Dr.K.M.Cherian A Man Of Honour, Who Is Gifted With The Hands Of God

There are a very few gifted doctors and here we get to know about one such famous doctor Dr. K. M. Cherian, founder ‘Frontier Multi specialty Hospitals’ in Chennai. Dr. Cherian is the first surgeon to have performed the country’s first Coronary Heart Bypass surgery in 1975. He is considered as the leader when it comes to heart-lung transplant and also the first doctor to perform India’s initial pediatric surgery.

Dr. K. M. Cherian is recognized worldwide and there are patients who travel from other countries to get treated from the master himself. He has many accolades to his credit, especially many incidents where he was the “first” doctor to do so.

THE BIRTH PROPHECY AND GROWING UP

The doctor gives all the credit for who he is today to his mother, since he says, she knew that her son will become a cardiac surgeon one day! Dr. K. M. Cherian’s father was an employee of KannanDevan Tea (A Sterling Company) and his mother a home maker lived on the hills of Munnar where this accurate prediction was done by a tribal chief who predicted that it will be a boy and he will born on a Sunday afternoon and will have a mole on his right wrist. The prediction indeed came true and he was born on 8th march 1942.

He did his schooling in Kerala and completed his MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and pursued his further education in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney Australia and he also did his FRACS in Cardiothoracic surgery. He was the first Indian in St Vincent’s Hospital to pursue his masters.
