Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd are caught in a web of lies in a tense psychological thriller

Believe Me!

Is the truth always black and white? How can two people have totally different recollections of a single event? ITV’s new thriller Liar, one of two dramas this week from The Missing creators Harry and Jack Williams (see page 4), explores the devastating consequences of one terrible evening in the lives of school teacher Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt) and surgeon Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd).

As the six-part psychological drama starts, Laura gets chatting to charming widower Andrew, one of the parents at her school. The pair go on a seemingly perfect date, but the next day they both have very different takes on what happened that night and serious accusations start flying around with shocking repercussions for them and their families. Secrets emerge from both their pasts which further complicates the quest for truth. But who is the liar – Laura or Andrew?

Here Froggatt, 37, and Gruffudd, 43, reveal more…
