American HORROR STORY

|August 15, 2020
A trio of African Americans encounter racism and monsters in a horror drama set in 1950s USA

A nail-biting journey into a 1950s America populated with terrifying monsters, both real and figurative, is at the heart of the new horror drama Lovecraft Country, which has been executive-produced by Get Out director Jordan Peele and Lost creator JJ Abrams.
Based on Matt Ruff ’s 2016 novel of the same name, it explores racism through the prism of horror and follows the road trip of a sci-fi-loving Korean War veteran, Atticus ‘Tic’ Freeman (Da 5 Bloods’ Jonathan Majors), and his free-spirited childhood friend Letitia ‘Leti’ Lewis (Birds of Prey’s Jurnee Smollett).
The 10-part series opens with Atticus returning home to Chicago from Korea after receiving a mysterious letter from his father Montrose (The Wire’s Michael Kenneth Williams). In it, Montrose claims to have found Atticus’ secret birthright in Ardham, Massachusetts, but when Atticus gets to Chicago, Montrose has vanished. So he, Leti and Atticus’ caring uncle George (Courtney B Vance) set off to find him.
