Teacher Alice (AnnaSophia Robb) and estate agent Catherine (Aja Naomi King) are active members of a suburban gardening club in the Michigan city of Grosse Pointe, along with their friend Brett (Ben Rappaport), a divorced father who is also the club's manager.
