PAT SAJAK’S recent medical crisis has left him a heartbeat away from death, according to insiders and medical experts.

Despite that, the gutsy 73-year-old “Wheel of Fortune” host has put on a brave face since undergoing emergency surgery to clear out his intestines, which forced the game show to cancel its Nov. 7 taping.

“Pat narrowly cheated death and he’s far from out of the woods,” said a source. “This was very serious surgery!”

Although the game show legend quickly took to Twitter to say the surgery had gone well and he’d be back to work soon, doctors consulted by The National ENQUIRER believe his condition may be far more serious.

“This is a major medical emergency!” warned a top surgeon.
