But rewind to 1925, when Pietro Turri opened his workshop in Carugo, just south of Lake Como, and wood was the soul of his furniture. “One of the stories passed down in our family is how, in those early days, the furniture from our first workshop would be transported to Milan on a horse-drawn cart for wealthy clients,” recalls Andrea Turri, now the fourth generation at the helm of the company. “The pieces would travel from Carugo down unpaved roads, guided by the craftsman himself.”
