India sanctions projects worth ₹50 crore for off-grid solar-based electrification

The Government of India has successfully completed the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya), launched in October 2017 to provide electricity connections to all willing un-electrified households in rural areas and poor households in urban areas. According to official data, nearly 2.86 crore households were electrified during the implementation period of the scheme, which formally closed on March 31, 2022.
