US radio show host blasted over 'false' chapel fire claims

More than five million people have viewed false social media posts claiming that Pakistani Muslims were responsible for last Thursday's suspected arson attack at the disused building in Port Talbot.

Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones who in 2022 was ordered to pay £1.32bn to bereaved families over lies about the Sandy Hook school massacre - published disinformation on X about the fire at the derelict Bethany English Calvinistic Methodist Chapel in Station Road.

His post falsely claimed the fire was part of a "massive attack" on Christianity and that "if you complain the thought police arrest you".
