Family, collectors and city dignitaries at reopening

MOORCROFT collectors and campaigners who fought to save it have been welcomed to the historic factory site for its reopening.

The firm, producing what has been described as the 'Rolls-Royce' of pottery, went bust in April after more than a century of production in Stoke-on-Trent, but was saved from liquidation by the founder's grandson.

Will Moorcroft becomes the third generation of his family to oversee production of the wares, which are highly sought after by collectors well beyond the Potteries. Its reopening was marked with an event as guests including collectors and dignitaries took factory tours and viewed the shop and museum. There was also an auction of Moorcroft ware.
