Fire at depot is blamed on battery in a bin

Warning over disposal after early-hours blaze
A FIRE that sent flames and smoke billowing from a council depot was caused by a lithium battery left in a recycling bin.
The site in Newcastle is being 'monitored' after two fire engines were called in at about 1.10am yesterday. The alarm was raised as families thought there was a blaze behind the neighbouring fire station.
Crews later confirmed it was at Knutton Lane Depot.
