City sees dip in serious crimes but grapples with cyber frauds

Only 19 murders reported in the city limits till Nov-end while it was 30+ in previous years

IN a positive trend for Mysuru city, serious crimes such as murder, rape and theft have seen a notable decline over the past three years. However, this good news is tempered by a concerning rise in cybercrime cases in the city limits, which have left citizens vulnerable to financial losses this year.

According to data accessed by The New Indian Express, the city's crime graph has been on a downward trajectory in terms of conventional crimes with statistics showing over 19 murders in the city limits this year till November-end while it was 30+ in previous years.

While the city has recorded a steady decline in overall crime rates, the shadow of cyber-crime looms large, with financial losses mounting for unsuspecting citizens.
