New cancer vax that will only destroy cancer cells?

THE Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) last month declared that its mRNA-based vaccine ‘EnteroMix’ has successfully completed over three years of preclinical testing and it is now poised for clinical application. The vaccine has shown significant tumour suppression, a promising safety profile and potential for individualised treatment.

Touted as a potential game-changer in cancer immunotherapy, the vaccine claims to be effective in targeting tumour cells and preventing recurrence. Unlike traditional vaccines that are designed to prevent infections, this cancer vaccine is therapeutic and aims at helping the immune system identify and destroy existing cancer cells.

EnteroMix is Russia’s first domestically produced mRNA-based personalised cancer vaccine. Preliminary data suggest the vaccine is both effective and safe.
