Ball helps charity to hit target for new play area

DISABILITY charity the Percy Hedley Foundation has reached its target to fund an inclusive sensory play area for students.

Students from Percy Hedley Northern Counties School in Jesmond at the Reach for the Stars' Ball last month

The new sensory play area at Northern Counties School in Jesmond, Newcastle, which will cost £120,000 to create, will include wheelchair accessible roundabouts, swings, sensory tools, and a water feature memorial to honour former students.

With over 20% of the population at Northern Counties using wheelchairs, the project is forecast to have a “transformational impact” for the students.
