AND IT'S GREAT FOR PEOPLE WITH NEUROLOGICAL OR MOBILITY ISSUES

- By ATHWENNA IRONS

A SUPPORT group tackling mental health based in Plymouth has secured vital funding to help grow its services.

Moondogz offers kayaking taster sessions to individuals who are, or have previously suffered from a mental health illness, or other distresses that contribute to their daily lives.

Now thanks to a £2,000 cash injection from Flutter UKI's Cash4Clubs, the club has been able to expand its mission of making open-top kayaking accessible for those with neurological conditions and mobility issues.

The funding has been used to buy essential equipment, train members in sea safety, and support leadership qualifications - transforming it into a fully affiliated Paddle UK club.

Venner Turner, managing director at Moondogz, which works with over 400 members across the South West, said: "As a trauma-lived group, everything we do at Moondogz comes from lived experience, and the funding has given us the chance to turn that into something bigger. It's enabled our members to train with Paddle UK on sea safety, start their leadership qualifications, and get the right equipment so we can take larger groups out on the water.
