Former Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante emphasized the urgent need for inclusive agricultural development and soil innovation, as he addressed stakeholders during the 127th founding anniversary of the Department of Agriculture and Partners' Pasasalamat on July 7, 2025, in Cebu City.

As the event's guest speaker, Diamante called for a serious and united approach to tackling the challenges facing the agriculture sector, particularly in Region 7.

In his speech, Diamante pointed out that while talent is important, it is not enough.

"Di lang basta-basta ang talent. Kinahanglan gyud og skills, trainings ug commitment," he said, adding that food security remained a major concern in Central Visayas.

He cited his participation in agricultural conferences in 2011 and 2012, where he first laid down his strategy for addressing food insecurity.

Diamante also raised concerns about soil degradation caused by long-term use of chemical fertilizers and poor agricultural practices.
