'We are committed to effectively representing Raebareli, Amethi'

In an exclusive interview to NewsX, Robert Vadra, businessman and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, talks about a range of issues, including the upcoming general election, Priyanka's role and Rahul Gandhi's journey so far. Edited excerpts.

'We are committed to effectively representing Raebareli, Amethi'

Q: Mr. Vadra, you maintain a low profile, but lately you have been in the spotlight. With the upcoming Lok Sabha elections gaining momentum and various parties gearing up for campaigning, there seems to be a particular focus on Raebareli within the Congress party. Can you shed some light on this, especially considering the prominence of the Gandhi family in this context?

A: Yes, the elections are indeed intensifying, and preparations are underway nationwide. Regarding Raebareli, while there have been deliberations, both my family and the Congress party are fully prepared. We are diligently working at every level to ensure comprehensive campaign strategies. Raebareli and Amethi hold significant historical importance for us, and naturally, we are committed to effectively representing them.

Q: Speaking of the Gandhi family, you previously mentioned the potential impact of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's active involvement in politics. Do you still hold that view, especially considering her recent engagements?

A: Absolutely. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's dedication and empathy towards the people remain unwavering. Despite security concerns, her commitment to addressing public issues remains steadfast. I firmly believe that her presence in Parliament would greatly benefit the nation, particularly in advocating for marginalized sections of society.

Q: Shifting focus slightly from politics, Rahul Gandhi's extensive journey last year and his subsequent criticism of the government have sparked discussions about the state of the Constitution and agency misuse. Do you share his concerns, particularly in light of the transition from pre-2014 to post-2014?
