Baker hits 124 as Cubs cruise past local rivals

AFTER the Cubs' sensational victory over much-fancied Milford Hall last week, they were in confident mood as they entertained local rivals Lichfield at Hints Road.

Stuart Burrows and Jack Brady replaced the unavailable Kieran Wordsworth and Jonathan Fearn. Captain Jack Smith won the toss and elected to field.

However, he was soon to rue the decision as George Turner and Asif Rajah opened in fine style, sharing a century partnership in 22 overs.

Rajah, who scored over 700 runs for Old Wulfs last season, reached his 50 from 56 balls, as the visitors reached 111 by drinks.

The breakthrough was finally achieved as spinner James Cooper bowled Rajah for 66 with the score on 121. Shortly afterwards, Turner reached a patient half-century from 107 balls.

However, Cooper struck again as Tom Kinson took a catch to dismiss Turner for 53. Long-serving Stuart Fielding soon followed for one as a fine catch from Ryan Hughes gave Cooper his third wicket.
