More than 60 residents attended event held by MP and cllrs
AROUND 60 residents, councillors and local organisations came together with Tamworth’s Member of Parliament for a community workshop on the Government's Pride in Place programme set to benefit Stonydelph and Glascote with millions of pounds worth of funding.
The event, led by Sarah Edwards and held at Sacred Heart Church, invited local people to help decide how the new funding could be spent in their area.
Earlier this year, the Government announced up to £5 billion to revive high streets, parks and public spaces across the country. Funding aims to support people across 339 neighbourhoods, including giving communities new powers to save local pubs and libraries and blocking unwanted betting and vape shops.
Under the scheme, a total of 169 areas will benefit from £2 million every year for a decade. Glascote Heath and Stonydelph make up one of those areas, identified using the Middle Layer Super Output Area (MSOA).
