Goals from Philly Angus and Taylor Campbell helped Jonny Payne's men claim a memorable win as they held on after Adam Johnson gave Town some hope of mounting a dramatic comeback.
Shildon also provided a shock as they dumped Northern Premier League side Ashington out of the competition.
The Railwaymen were three goals to the good — thanks to efforts from Jon Weirs, Andrei Ardelean and Luke Spalding — by the time Craig Spooner netted a late penalty for their visitors.
