GUARD SACKED FOR ASSAULT WAS REAL VICTIM OF ATTACK

|June 15, 2025
A SECURITY guard who lost his job because of an assault allegation has been exonerated after bodycam evidence showed he was in fact the victim of assault himself.
Wayne Price, aged 40, was tasked with guarding shop customers and staff against a persistent and notorious offender in Worcester.
Mr Price, who worked as a Safer Streets Officer for Worcester BID, responded to an urgent request from Tesco staff while patrolling in the city centre on September 26 last year.
He made his way to Tesco Express, on Foregate Street, where he encountered Peter Swinbourne attempting to enter the supermarket.
The security officer pushed Swinbourne, causing him to trip and injure his head, which led to Mr Price losing his job.
Following his dismissal, Mr Price then faced charges of assault by beating and lost his SIA credentials, affecting his chances of further security work.
However he was cleared of the charges when his bodycam footage was played at Worcester Magistrates' Court.
