Trotters opener a real treat to kick off with

STOCKPORT County will begin the new campaign with a home game against local rivals Bolton Wanderers, as the club's fixture list for the 2025/26 season has been confirmed.

The club's season opener against the Trotters has been selected to be televised live on Sky Sports Football, and will take place at 12pm on Sunday 3rd August.

County completed a first league double against Bolton since 1903 last season, including a 5-0 win at Edgeley Park, and this year's curtain raiser will see two promotion hopefuls looking to lay down an early marker.

The club's first away fixture of the season sees Dave Challinor's side travel to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 9th August, followed with a trip to last season’s play-off foes Leyton Orient on Saturday 16th August.

County then round off the opening month with home games against Bradford City and Burton Albion, before making the short trip to Wigan Athletic on Saturday 30th August.

The game against Bradford will also be the club's first mid-week game of the league season, taking place on Tuesday 19th August, 7.45pm KO, and will see the return of former Hatters Neill Byrne, Antoni Sarcevic and Ibou Touray to Edgeley Park.

Over the Festive period, County will be at home on Boxing Day for the first time in three years, taking on Lincoln City in a 3pm kick-off. The Hatters are then at home again just a few days later, rounding off 2025 by welcoming Doncaster Rovers to Edgeley Park on Monday 29th December, 7.45pm KO.

The club’s first fixture of the new year will see the Hatters on the road, travelling to Northampton Town on New Year's Day, before a trip to Reading on Sunday 4th January.
