Gaffer's remarkable record stays intact

DAVE Challinor continued a quite astonishing record of never finishing below the play-off positions in fourteen full seasons as a manager, as The Hatters battled past Huddersfield Town 2-1 at Edgeley Park on Monday.

Challinor’s remarkable record as a manager was extended in the process, having secured either a play-off spot or higher in fourteen full campaigns as a manager across six divisions of English foot-ball.

And that play-off spot may yet be improved upon, with County holding an outside chance of snatching the second automatic promotion spot - trailing current second-placed side Wrexham by five points with two games to play.

The County boss, however, is refusing to be drawn on the possibility of that scenario and has urged his side to simply win both remaining fixtures of the regular campaign and “see what follows".

“We have a few games left to achieve what, at the start of the season, people probably thought was impossible,” he said.

“We just want to win our two games and see where that leaves us.”
