THERE was a very emotional presentation at Mellor for the winner of their 'major' competition, the Betty Pollock Trophy, to Alison Davies.

Alison's emotional triumph in Trophy

Betty was Lady President in 1982 and 1983 when she presented the trophy to the club.

Alison is Betty's daughter who came in with a very hot score of 40 but it needed a cpo with Pat Phillips to see Alison take the trophy.

Next in were Lesley Howarth 37 and Carol Butler 36.

Mellor ladies celebrated in style on the balcony overlooking the 18th green and Alison was so pleased to be holding the trophy dedicated to her mother.

The monthly medal at Mellor was close with three players locked on 67 with the cpo going in favour of Alan Todd from Alan Little and Graham Davenport. Next in on 68 were club legend Chris Lee, Phil Crosthwaite, Dexter Moult, Marcus Acott, Mike Priestley and Ken Clarke and Peter Roberts had the best gross of 75.

The Cheshire GA Life Members competitions are staged each month in the summer season at clubs across the county

Reddish Vale were delighted to host the latest one with over 100 players from across Cheshire enjoying their superb Mackenzie course and clubhouse hospitality.

Leading in were Cliff Bagnall and Marc Williams (Alsager and Hartford GC's) with 43, one more than Phiip Dodd and Michael Mortimer (Prestbury) and Stuart Jones and Paul Clarke (Helsby).

Giving them a warm welcome was Vale Past Captain David Ibberson.
