Town's Neighbourhood Policing team is getting tougher and smarter in the fight against crime

WEEK OF ACTION IS SHOWING 'THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING OFFICERS AND PCSOS OUT AND VISIBLE IN OUR COMMUNITIES'
FIXODENT bandits and Calpol culprits have been warned their time is up as police chiefs draft in extra bobbies to tackle thefts, drugs and antisocial behaviour.
On Scunthorpe High Street, the town's Neighbourhood Policing team is getting tougher and smarter in the fight against crime, which has included a wave of thefts of denture adhesive and children's medicine.
One shop manager said it gets sold on to buy drugs. "I just hope they swallow their teeth and it bites their a**e when it passes through."
The Neighbourhood Policing Team for Scunthorpe town has been assisted with a sniffer dog in the town centre ward in the hunt for street dealers and thieves.
Just before Scunthorpe Live joined the team for a tour of the town centre a man was arrested at Sutton House, Scunthorpe, on suspicion of being involved in the possession of Class A drugs with intent.
Sergeant Will Harrison, of Humberside Police, said the blight of drugs in all communities takes its toll on criminality in most towns, including Scunthorpe.
The trade in drugs fuels shop thefts and his Neighbourhood Policing team of five police officers and two PCSOs are out to stop it and prevent more retailers becoming victims of crime. They have been on the beat in a week of action in Scunthorpe and surrounding villages.
