Stunning silverware from super yacht in shipshape condition

A REMARKABLE collection of some of the best silver and tableware that money can buy is to go under the hammer in a spectacular auction in Scunthorpe.

Created by internationally famous jewellers, silversmiths and porcelain manufacturers, the treasure trove was brought together to furnish the state-rooms of the Sarafsa, a £100m super yacht built in 2008 at Devonport for Middle Eastern owners.

The vessel has changed hands since that time and Eddisons have been invited to auction silver, tablewares and furnishings that were not included in the sale. The retail value of the items in the auction has been estimated at around £1m.

The most immediately striking entries include two super yacht models, one of which is a 4.5ft-long model of the Sarafsa that was commissioned in 2008 when the boat was being built. Meanwhile, the other is a model of an earlier, smaller, Sarafsa yacht. That model was made by the celebrity London jeweller Theo Fennell.
