Sir Ian is happy at new deal for Toony

SCOTLAND and British & Irish Lions legend Sir Ian McGeechan reckons it is “brilliant” that Gregor Townsend has signed a new contract as head coach of the national team.
Sir Ian, 78, is sure that Townsend, above, has what it takes to keep making progress with Scotland. And he thinks that the experience of playing for the Lions this summer will help key players like Finn Russell keep improving.
Townsend has been in charge of Scotland since 2017. He signed a new contract earlier this month that will keep him in the post until the end of 2027.
