Failure Swinney wants to fix mess he created

YEAR out from the next Holyrood elections, and a year after he became First Minister, John Swinney is back on his favourite ground - independence.

A reasonable person might imagine that 18 years of serial SNP failure in government was a solid argument against that.

What Scotland really needs is a laser-like focus on domestic issues. Urgent action to reverse the damage done to our NHS, schools, transport and other public services by the Nationalists.

They might reasonably think that their obsession with independence, gender self-ID and host of other issues that most Scots oppose has been the problem.
