Being part of UK 'netted Scotland a half trillion bonus'

SCOTLAND’S businesses have netted a whopping half trillion pound bonus thanks to Scots rejecting independence and separatism in 2014.
Analysis by think tank Scotland in Union showed the UK market delivered £495billion in sold goods and services in the nine years up to and including 2023.
The value of the UK market dwarfs that of the EU and the rest of the world.
EU exports in the same period were worth £151bn, and those beyond the trading bloc totalled £322bn.
In 2023, the latest year for which figures are available, Scotland exported £55.4bn to England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the second-highest figure in a decade. Scotland in Union believes that the UK exports would have been severely disrupted if Scotland was taken out of the UK.
