Raise a glass as beer event to return

A SPECTACULAR two-day beer festival for the community will be held in Haslingden for the second year in July and organisers are seeking businesses to sponsor casks.

Last year, the inaugural event raised £1,000 which benefited Rossendale Hospice, Pendleside Hospice and Rossendale Mens Sheds.

Haslingden Beer Festival will be on the weekend of July 26 and 27 at St Mary's Community Sports Club, Shore Street, Haslingden, and is being organised by The Griffin landlord Alejandro Romero and Michael Ormerod from Northern Whisper.

Alejandro said: “Rossendale Brewery was set up 31 years ago at The Griffin and I have been the tenant here for the last three years. We brew Rossendale Ale, Halo Pale, Rossendale Citra, Glen Top, Pitch Porter and Floral Dance and all seven real ales are always on tap.
