Packed Easter concert did not disappoint

It was an absolutely packed, transepts and side aisles, St John’s Kirk for the Dunedin Consort's Easter celebration of JS Bach’s monumental Passion according to St Matthew Bwv244.

With the inspiring figure of Musical Director John Butt in charge, he directed a performance which used the eight soloists additionally as the choir, though with the added RSNO Youth Chorus providing ripieno sopranos in some numbers, and followed Historically Informed Practice concerning the two orchestras’ both for instruments and playing.

It was above all a communicative and involving performance.
