Second phase of repairs for historic Steeple Hall

The second phase of repairs can be procured for the iconic Steeple Hall in Kilbarchan after funding was identified to cover a shortfall of almost £150,000.

A total of £434,083 - covering preparatory surveys, professional fees, legal searches and the first phase of works - has been spent on the A-listed building in Steeple Square so far.

That meant £270,917 remained of the initial £705,000 budget but, since the estimated cost of the next phase had come in at £420,913, a deficit of £149,996 was calculated.

However, Councillor Andy Steel, SNP convener of Renfrewshire Council's economy and regeneration policy board, confirmed at Tuesday's meeting that "sufficient funding" has since been secured.
