Accolade for army reservist Gerald

June 12, 2025

An army reservist based in Paisley - whose career spans almost four decades - has received a prestigious certificate from the Lord-Lieutenant for Renfrewshire.

- TAYLOR MURRAY

Warrant officer two Gerald Turnbull was one of two army reservists and two cadet force adult volunteers (CFAVs) to receive recognition.

Gerald has travelled to many countries around the world while in his army reserve role which has led to him enjoying life in and out of the force.

He told the Express: "I think receiving this award is recognition from my peers of everything I have done and achieved in my reserve career, which has spanned nearly 40 years.

"There's a lot to love about being a reservist but, for me, the best part of it is that you get the best of both worlds: you do your civilian job through the week and in the evenings or on weekends, you learn new skills with the reserves that can help with your civilian role.
