Great family days out that won't be breaking the bank
Ormskirk Advertiser
|June 05, 2025
FAMILY day trips are a fun way to spend time together with your little ones, but all parents know how quickly the costs of a family day out can escalate.
Ticket prices, food, treats, and souvenirs can all add up to make the cost of a family day trip prohibitively expensive.
But for families who are in receipt of Universal Credit or other benefits, there are attractions across the UK that offer discounted ticket prices to try and help make things more affordable. Across the country there are nearly 100 attractions that offer discounted ticket prices, and a handful are located within a reasonable driving distance of Liverpool.
The full national list includes places like museums, theme parks, zoos, and theatres where you can get in for cheap or even for free if you're on Universal Credit or other benefits. Some of these places even let you bring other people with you at a discount.
We rounded up some of the attractions you can visit including how much tickets cost and who is eligible for them.
Eureka! Science and Discover Centre - tickets for £3
EUREKA! Science and Discovery Centre is located in Wallasey and it offers £3 day tickets for families on Universal or Pension Credit until the end of the summer holidays.
Every day up until the kids go back to school in September, families in receipt of Universal Credit or Pension Credit will be able to pay just £3 each for a day’s admission to Eureka! Science + Discovery.
If a member of your family is in receipt of Pension Credit or Universal Credit or is in the process of being moved onto the new benefit system, you can treat the whole family to a day out at Eureka! Science + Discovery for just £3 each - offering great boredom-busting activities to help you get through the six-week holidays. Families can book online and just need to bring proof of their benefit entitlement or migration on the day of their visit.
These tickets cannot be used at Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in West Yorkshire.
