DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS ARE WITHDRAWN

- By JOSHUA HARTLEY

A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Police officer has been cleared of misogyny allegations after making “degrading” comments like “women are like chickens in pens for men”.

PC Hakeem Ahmed was alleged to have made several inappropriate and misogynistic remarks over the space of around a year, but the officer argued he had been playing devil's advocate in a classroom setting.

A misconduct investigation, which began when four female police officers who were on his training cohort submitted a complaint in 2022 to one of their lecturers, led to him facing a hearing that started on Tuesday.

However, the force withdrew its case against the officer yesterday, after its legal counsel reconsidered the statements of four witnesses made on Tuesday and new evidence that had come to light.

The hearing had previously been told that PC Ahmed had rowed with a female colleague in 2022 after she questioned why he had left drill training an hour early.
