Notts Tories propose alternative tax rise that Reform call ‘laughable'

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE'S Conservative councillors have tabled an alternative 2.99% council tax rise - 1% lower than the rise put forward by the Reform authority in charge.

The Reform UK Nottinghamshire County Council is set to hold its first budget-setting meeting next Thursday. The authority's money-saving goals have been widely reported since the group won the May 2025 elections.
Back in June 2025, it announced it would start its efficiency review to identify savings across the council. This review is ongoing, and Reform says £44.2 million in savings have been identified to reduce pressures.
Little detail has been provided so far on where they will be made, except for the reduction of agency staff, bringing in savings of £1.6m.
