My disabled daughter was verbally abused at drive-thru but all she got was a second-hand apology

A MOTHER has hit out at police for “failing to take seriously” the verbal abuse her disabled daughter suffered at a drive-thru restaurant.
Jasmine Currie was subjected to a torrent of offensive slurs by another customer at McDonald's in Sutton-in-Ashfield while in the car with her carer.
The 22-year-old was left in tears by the “shocking” ordeal but, after a two-month investigation, police were unable to track down the main perpetrator and could only pass on a secondhand apology from his friend.
Jasmine’s mum, Louise Grafton, described it as a “disgusting and farcical” situation. “I'd like to see it taken seriously and make them accountable for their actions,’ said the 48-year-old.
“If it was a racial crime it would've been taken more seriously. They've not even had their wrists slapped. They've had their hands held and massaged.”
Nottinghamshire Police, who treated the incident as a hate crime, said no further action could be taken due to “evidential difficulties” but pledged to “remain committed to tackling this kind of behaviour’
