Man jailed for slapping girl as he rode past on bike

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl was left in tears with a red mark on her face after being slapped by a 38-year-old man on her way to school.

Nottinghamshire Police say the victim was walking with her sister when she was assaulted by John Jolly, 38, on March 7 last year.

Jolly was going past the sisters on a bicycle, and rode off laughing after the attack, on Adderley Close, Bestwood, at around 8.30am.

Police arrested him hours later and Jolly, of Colville Street, Nottingham, eventually pleaded guilty to common assault.

He was jailed for four months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on January 23.
