HEAD coach Martin Paterson labelled Notts County's gritty 2-1 away victory against Fleetwood Town as a “mentality win”.

Alassana Jatta and Matthew Dennis both scored their 12th League goals of the campaign to guide the Magpies to three points in the League Two clash.

Jatta put the promotion-chasing Magpies ahead seven minutes before the break with his fourth goal in as many games.

Will Davies gave Fleetwood hope midway through the second half, before Dennis wrapped up a fourth successive win for the inform visitors.

Matthew Platt made a key block to keep out a Davies shot during an uneventful opening 20 minutes.

Jodi Jones failed to find the target with a first-time strike for the Magpies but Jatta put them ahead after turning home Jones’ cross from close range on 38 minutes.
