Is extension to another city really a sensible option?

For those who do take the plunge into managing Nottingham’s light rail system, there is one thing above all else they quickly have to learn to live with - the majority of things that go wrong are completely out of their control. For those in doubt, the sudden announcement of a timetable change shone a spotlight on the capacity for outside forces to affect Nottingham’s tram services.

NET runs 37 trams, which you would assume is an ample number to keep a regular and reliable service going. But four of those vehicles were recently put in tram hospital, undergoing extensive repairs after crashes.
