CHAIR OF CLUB IN FLINTOFF TV SHOW TELLS OF SAFETY CONCERNS

- By DAN HAYGARTH ECHO Reporter

A CRICKET club which features in Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff's BBC show is “constantly fighting” to protect its ground which borders a “problem” park, according to their chair.

Found on Wadham Road, Firwood Bootle are one of our region's most successful cricket clubs and they pride themselves on their work within the community giving as many young people as possible the chance to get into the sport.

As such, it has a central role in the latest series of BBC show Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams, which began this month.

It sees the Lancashire and England all-rounder trying to use cricket as a force to change lives, proving it should not only be played by the elite.

The first series saw Freddie start a cricket team in Preston and they went on tour to India in the second series.

In the third series Freddie is in Merseyside in the hope of replicating what he did in his home town.
