Health chief urges ‘right care, right place’ to ease strain on hospital services

Pathway plea Chair of Hospital Watch group, Jim Moohan (inset) highlights the impact on services

A health chief has described the impact of “inappropriate presentations” at the Vale of Leven Hospital - saying it is putting pressure on staff and services.

Iona Scott, Interim Clyde Sector Director, discussed the issue at a recent Hospital Watch meeting.

She said: “I was delighted to meet with Hospital Watch and provide an update about activity in the hospital.

“It was a productive meeting at the VoLH and we continue to greatly appreciate their support of promoting our messages to the public.

“We continue to discuss the impact of people coming to the VoLH inappropriately.

“Not following the correct pathways puts pressure on our staff and services, who are supporting patients who have appointments and have followed the correct process.
