Summer dog rules restrict isle's beaches

Isle of Thanet Gazette

May 08, 2026

THE sun is shining (for now) and temperatures are on the up (thank goodness).

Therefore, it is only natural you may be looking to venture to the coast, especially with another bank holiday weekend approaching later this month.

If you have a dog or two you may also want to take them with you to give them the opportunity to dip their paws into the cool sea. However, if you thought you could just rock up (pardon the pun) to any beach in Kent and bring the pet with you, think again.

Between May 1 and September 30, dogs are banned from many beaches - or are allowed, but have to be kept on a lead.
