Students swapping boozy nights for the gym

GYM chain FLYEFit has identified a huge shift in attitude since Fitter Happier's college days, all those years ago.
In a survey carried out ahead of the recent WellFest weekend at Royal Hospital Kilmainham, it was found 92% of 18-24-year-olds preferred early-morning exercise over a late night out partying as a Saturday plan.
And 93% of people would choose to cut out partying for an entire month rather than giving up the gym.
As much as we love a trip to the gym these days, fitness wasn't as big a priority during those wild 18-24 years.
So this really does suggest that Ireland's fitness culture is thriving, with people prior-itising health and wellbeing over late-night escapades.
This was the headline response to the survey carried out by FLYEFit, which also asked what people wanted to gain from their gym experience.
As far as motivations go, 58% of respondents go to the gym primarily to get stronger, followed by 26% who focus on improving their mental health.
